"Heaven Can Wait" Screening

  • Chicago Cultural Center (map)

In connection with Music of the Baroque's May 14 and 15 performances of Georg Philipp Telemann's oratorio "The Day of Judgment," film critic Josh Larsen, co-host of the podcast "Filmspotting" and author of the forthcoming book "Movies Are Prayers," will screen and lead a discussion about the 1943 film "Heaven Can Wait" at the Chicago Cultural Center. Directed by Ernst Lubitsch and featuring Gene Tierney, Don Ameche, and Charles Coburn, "Heaven Can Wait" tells the tale of a man who walks into the underworld convinced that's where he belongs and must prove this to Satan by retelling his life story.
