Filmspots 2010: Nominated Films Checklist
« on: February 02, 2011, 12:58:29 AM »
You have three-and-a-half weeks weeks to catch up on these films before final ballots are due on February 26.  What's your To See list look like?

Select the films you HAVEN'T seen in the poll above.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.

Yikes, I have eighteen to see. And here I thought the fever was subsiding.

I've only seen 16. High on the to-see list are:

True Grit
Scott Pilgrim

but after that I'm kinda meh. I'll probably try to complete categories that I care about rather than seeing everything. Perhaps. I don't know how I'd go seeing 24 films before the deadline. At my current speed I might be lucky to get 10.

Just to clarify: The poll is asking which films you HAVEN'T seen.

Thanks pix. I'll reverse my vote, quietly, while no one watches.

The Secret in Their Eyes will be on Instant Netflix starting on February 5th; and Fish Tank will be on there starting on February 22.

Netflix won't have the DVD of Never Let Me Go until March 1, which is after the Filmspot deadline.

And, dammit, Four Lions isn't due out on DVD at all until March 8.

16 for me. Only ones I'm excited for are La Danse and the remaining animated films on the list.

Never Let Me Go opens in Australian cinemas on March 31.

Those who can get to Melbourne, La Danse is playing at the Astor on the 12th of Feb. It'd be a stunning environment to see that movie in, and I desperately wish I could make it, seeing as I missed it at the Nova late last year. (I saw it at the Forum during MIFF - I see a nice symmetry in seeing it at the Forum and the Astor.) I still might take my friend who'll be here from England along to see it before we hit the town. That works, right?

Moviefone says Four Lions is currently playing in the following cities:

New York, NY
Austin, TX
Tucson, AZ
Knoxville, TN
Portland, OR
Daytona Beach, FL

I'm not sure that helps me at all.

17 I haven't seen, 2 of which I have zero desire to see (Tron, Macgruber).

I can get to see any of the rest, 3 weeks for 15 films doesn't seem too impossible.

I might see:

Restrepo
Never Let Me Go
Four Lions

I'll probably never see:

The Two Escobars
TRON: Legacy
The Secret of Kells
The Secret in Their Eyes
Micmacs
Mary and Max
MacGruber
La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet
The Illusionist
Greenberg

Four Lions

I'd love to hear your opinions on it, I'm a big fan of Morris' work (with a few exceptions).

28 unseen. Oh dear. The Independent Cinema I go to are showing Black Swan, True Grit and Never Let Me Go in a couple of weeks time though so I should get to them.

Mary and Max had completely passed me by but is now in my LoveFilm queue as it looks like it might be to my tastes.

I've got 9 6 to see, mostly in the minor categories (Surprise, Line, Tech). Are there fewer films nominated than last year or was I just on top of things this year?

I'll See It If I Find A Way
The Illusionist

Maybe I'll See It
Blue Valentine
The Fighter
Tron: Legacy
