I'm with Thor on this one. The whole Seventh Seal thing is freaking perfect. And they got Ian McKellen to play Death. It's the greatest thing ever that Gandalf and the Terminator can share a scene in a movie with so many explosions while paying homage to a freaking Bergman film.

I'm not sayin' there aren't many great moments. It's just not a great film overall :)

Wesley Snipes
Conclusion:

I've enjoyed him in a lot of past roles, but his recent and numerous run-ins with the law and general bad attitude is starting to wear on me. Also the fact that he's only making direct-to-video movies now, despite having a star on Hollywood's walk of fame. ::)

I would love to hear some comments on the scene in Last Action Hero where Arnie as Jack Slater meets the real Schwarzenegger.  It struck me as very odd that Slater's words are very negative, along the lines of "I do not like you. You have only brought me pain."

That made my head spin.  This should have been a joyful/playful moment but out comes this deep self-loathing. What is Schwarzenegger trying to say?  Or the film?  Am I reading too much into it.

Yeah, you're right about that scene. If it's going for a laugh there, I didn't really get it.

Yeah, but the MC Hammer cameo at 2:10 is awesome.  :)

I take it to be the fictional character's realization that he is a fictional character, which is painful for him, because he can't continue to believe he's awesome and immortal. Toy Story lifted this plot wholesale.*

It's not supposed to be funny. This movie is deep, man.

* I guess the main credit goes to Pirandello, or something, though?

Meh, they sort of covered that realization stuff already, but okay, that makes sense.

It's deep, but not self-loathing, it's him coming face to face with the man that caused him to exist, and thus the man who has done nothing but cause pain in his life for the sake of pathos.

Smirnoff-I know this marathon is over but if you never have, you should check out Timecop at some point.  It's the only JCVD movie I ever liked (in a B-action movie kind of way but still).  Well, other than JCVD.

Thanks, I certainly won't write off the idea.

Though the marathon is nearly over in an official sense, I so enjoyed writing about the films that I'll probably sneak in a bonus round or two as I happen across new material. ;)
