Come take my hand, you should know me,
I've always been in your mind
You know I will be kind, I'll be guiding you

Building your dream has to start now,
there's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake, I'll be guiding you

You have to believe we are magic, nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic, don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive, destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive, for you

From where I stand you are home free,
the planets align so rare
There's promise in the air, and I'm guiding you

Through every turn I'll be near you,
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall, I'll be guiding you

You have to believe we are magic, nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic, don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive, destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive, for you

Awesome! I hope they do it justice. I can't imagine it without Olivia Newton John. Although they do have a "Specialty Skater" so it sounds like they are on the right track.

Xanadu! Recognize!

oh I almost forgot...

terrible remakes...

Sabrina!! WHY!!!!!!
The Omen ... shouldn't have happened. The original damien was scary enough
The Ladykillers
Charade/The Truth about Charlie
an affair to remember/love affair

I do love some remakes though... especially when they have only a cursory resemblance to the originals (they are more homage then remake)... aka the italian job, oceans 11

That got off-topic faster than George W. Bush at a press conference.

Anyway, in no particular order:

Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton's Assterpiece)
Cheaper by the Dozen
The Pink Panther (Whatever happened to Steve Martin?  I need to go watch Shopgirl again.)
The Parent Trap
The Ring (What a laugh I got from this film!)

Can I put Michael Bay's The Island since it was an extremely bad remake of Logan's Run and a B-movie called Clonus?

I would second all these films, but I suspected they were bad so I didn't watch any of them except the parent trap (because you can't avoid it on basic cable without some extreme effort) Wink

The Richard Gere Breathless - Por quoi?

I also agree with the who Texas Chainsaw et al choices - I hate the way studios are so lazy that they simply take a cool, gritty horror film of yore, add vacant, Gap ad teens and pile on the gloss.

To all XANADU fans: they are making a Broadway musical of it...and apparently they're keeping the crazy 80s tunes as the foundation of the music.  That's crazy.

The last really terrible remake I saw was THE WICKER MAN...man talking about crapping all over an older movie's legacy, that's a perfect example.  It was like they set out to ruin anyone's fond memories of the original.

PLANET OF THE APES is definitely bad, PINK PANTHER too.  I just rewatched the remake of KISS OF DEATH -- the original's no great shakes, but the remake's definitely worse.

Oh and whoever said THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE, that's maybe the worst ever, particularly because the original is so mind-numbingly perfect.
