I liked the movie and did find it enjoying to watch but the book is in my opinion much better. The book has more depth in it and one of the speeches that the leader of the program Sakamochi gives in the book is quite terrible. It reminded me about George Orwells book 1984 or Germani in the 1940s. Quite terrible in my opinion.
The quote is:
"I´ll tell you now, this country needs the Program, The thing is, it´s not an experiment at all. Com on, why do you think we have the local news broadcast the image of the winner? Of course, wievers might feel sorry for him orher, thinking, the poor student didn´t even want to play the game, but had no choise to fight the other students. In other words, everyone ends up concluding you can´t trust anyone, right? Wich would extinguish any hope of uniting and forming c coup détat against the government, and so the Repulic of Greater East Asia and its ideals will live on for eternity"
Read the book. It well worth the effort.
