Cinecast #81: North Country/Mrs. Henderson Presents

North Country/Mrs. Henderson Presents: In any other year, Niki Caro's "North Country" and Stephen Frears' "Mrs. Henderson Presents" might have gone quietly to their graves on Blockbuster shelves across the country without causing much of a stir. That fate has been postponed (temporarily) by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "North Country," inspired by the first-ever class action lawsuit for sexual harassment, received acting nominations for star Charlize Theron and co-star Frances McDormand. But while the movie is mostly compelling, it can't escape its Oscar-bait trappings. Frears, the man behind "Dangerous Liaisons" and "High Fidelity," seems out of his comfort zone with "Henderson," a sentimental WWII-era comedy. But, alas, Dame Judi Dench -- to absolutely no one's surprise -- rises above the disjointed narrative to earn her 83rd consecutive Best Actress nomination.

My iTunes download of this episode cut off before the last 10 minutes (so I missed the Oscar picks). Am I the only one who had this problem?
Somebody else mentioned a problem as well... only seeing 26 minutes or so. But that's odd. I just downloaded it in iTunes and got the entire show.
I only got 26 minutes too. Maybe they are using an akami type system where it puts the files out to many local mirrors and one of the mirrors didn't get the whole file.
matt, are you in the US or overseas?
I am in the US (Sacramento, California to be exact)
i got it straight from the sight and i had to close and re-open my browser 3 times throughout the show because it stopped loading. i always listen to it this way and i've never had a problem before... don't know if its related!
Jake
Roberto Benigni climbed over Billy Bob Thorton's head, not Steven Spielberg.
I got just 26 minutes as well. I am California as well (maybe it is the mirror problem?)
Thanks
Seema
Not heard this, but the trailers for Mrs. Henderson Presents made me want to be sick. Please don't tell me this is what Stephen Frears has been reduced to!
TWIT had the same prob a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be a problem with some mirrors servers. When the file was sent out it was cutting the file off at a certain size.
I only got the first 14 minutes. Never happened before with this or any other podcast. I am overseas but shop with the US store.
please watch Umbrellas, it's so good, and I think it's the only foriegn musical on your list. plus, it's 91 minutes of Catherine Deneuve for crying out loud.
