...And Many More / Cinecast #83 Delay
Please take a moment to vote in the two Cinecast Polls along the right side...
Thanks to some thoughtful and attentive listeners, Adam and I were reminded that today is Cinecast's 1st birthday. We hesitate to mention how old the show is, lest you be tempted to dig into the archives for our very first review: an unnecessarily thorough disection of the entirely-forgettable "Get Shorty" sequel "Be Cool."
Also. Cinecast #83, originally scheduled to post on Wednesday, March 8, will be delayed by a day. We apologize for the inconvenience. Look for back-to-back lethal doses of Cinecrack Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday's show, we'll have a review of Bruce Willis and Mos Def in Richard Donner's "16 Blocks." On Friday we'll wrap up our Overlooked Auteurs Marathon with Yasujiro Ozu's "Floating Weeds" and reveal our Top 5 Cop Movies.

Hmm... it's working fine on this end. Maybe a popup blocker issue?
So, why are you changing your name? I like Cinecast.
How about the Podcast formerly known as Cinecast?
Thanks for letting me know that you'll be here tomorrow. Now I won't have to keep updating every five minutes to see if you've uploaded 83.
I checked the US Patent and Trademark office. There are two current trademarks for "Cinecast". One is for a company that advertises in theaters on the screens before movies, the other is for a hard drive interface device for compressing video. While I know Adam and Sam haven't gone public with the exact reason for changing the name, I would have to assume one of these two companies contacted him about the use of their trademarked name.
Trademark law is a bit screwy, so while I don't really think OUR Cinecast is really infringing on the other trademark owners rights, it is a lot cheaper to simply change the name and stay on friendly terms with the company complaining than it is to get embroiled in a legal battle over the use of the name.
Long live Cinediction!!!
