Cinecast #72: Get Busy Livin' ... Or Get Busy Narrating

I wanted a podcast, and for my sins they gave me Cinecast #72

Hitchcock Marathon #6/Top 5 Movies with Narrators: Movie narration gets a (largely deserved) bad rap, but Adam and Sam manage to cobble together a couple respectable Top 5 Movies w/ Narrators lists ... that somehow don't include a single movie narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Also on the show, we close out the Master-of-Suspense Marathon with a discussion of "Frenzy," Hitchcock's penultimate film. Plus, listeners dish on their biggest Man-Crushes, Girl-Crushes and the Best Films of 2005.

Music by The Meat Purveyors and 16 Horsepower courtesy of Bloodshot Records ... Cinecast theme music by Age of the Rifle.

Cinecast is brought to you by Peerflix. Trade your DVDs online at peerflix.com/cinecast.

The real Henry Hill has ruined any glory Goodfellas might have showed the mob in. He was on the Sern show, and was drunk, had no teeth. He later threw up in a plotted plant, and was vidoetaped being raped by two men in the forest. His life is a real mess. Karma is a bitch.

A pretty good list guys. One thing I loved about the narration in Adaptation is that after Brian Cox makes the comment that you mentioned, the narration not only stops, but doesn't happen for the rest of the film until the very end when Charlie decides that he doesn't have to listen to Cox anymore. And even though it's not a movie, I'd also like to say Ron Howard's narration on "Arrested Development" is one of the best narration jobs period.

You borrow a quote from Shawshank for the show title, but don't bother to put it on your lists. Treason!

Shawshank - bravo from me as well. Best work from our favorite narrative master of gravitas.

I must concer with the rest who cannot believe Shawshank Redemption is not on your list!...Shame

It's like forgetting about the Mona Lisa when talking about famous paintings.

Another great narration in a movie that I don't think was mentioned - Jason Statham narration in Guy Ritchie's "Snatch"

Jason Statham is my mancrush. I don't want to have sex with him, but I understand if you do.

"She does not get eaten by eels at this time."

It's simply inconceivable that the Princess Bride is not on either Top 5!

I was shocked that Platoon didn't make the list.
