Cinecast A/V #1: Overlooked DVD Picks (Soundtracks)

No, this isn't what Adam and Sam look like.

Admit it. You've got a fever. And the only prescription is more Cinecast. Well, the doctors are in. Every Thursday, Sam and I will reveal our Overlooked DVD Picks of the Week on a separate dual-format podcast. As a regular Cinecast subscriber, you'll get the audio version of Cinecast A/V delivered the same way you get our Tuesday and Friday shows.

If you're one of the fortunate few currently in possession of a new iPod video, you can subscribe via this separate feed -- http://feeds.feedburner.com/cinecastav -- and have the video version automatically downloaded to your player. Of course, if you don't have one of the new iPods, you can still subscribe and watch the show in iTunes. Or, just visit cinecastshow.com every week and watch it here (see 'Watch A/V #1' link/image directly below).

On this debut edition, Sam and I promote two films that just missed qualifying for our respective Top 5/10 Soundtracks lists. As always, we look forward to your feedback -- cinecast@cinecastshow.com.

Very, very nice.

Any chance you can put the video podcasts on iTunes? The iTunes Music Store does support videos, and this would simplify the process.

Thanks! But it is on the iTunes Music Store. The instructions are in this post. All you have to do is subscribe using our the separate feed -- http://feeds.feedburner.com/cinecastav -- and the shows will download automatically to iTunes.

As far as adding it to the Podcasts directory on iTunes, that step is coming soon. Thanks.

Very very cool. It's sort of surreal to see Adam and Sam doing the show, when you've only been able to hear it for such a long time.

Windows Media Player. You probably need to adjust your preferences and make Windows Media your default media player. Or you could open Windows Media Player and find the downloaded file and open it.

So, naturally, you guys look nothing like I had pictured based on your voices, but no surprise there.
Any chance of multiple video formats? I just got a Creative Zen Vision (there are other portable video players besides the all-mighty iPod), and it supports video up to 640x480 in many different flavors.
Thanks for the Herculean job you guys do every week!

Fistful of Dollars is good, but the Leone trilogy just gets better with each film, so if you were only going to see one, I'd recommend "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly", though "For A Few Dollars More" is probably the most western out of all three, if that make any sense.

What a nice little surprise to wake up yesterday morning and see a new cinecast show sitting in my podcast directory. Now I can have a mental image of what you guys look like when I'm listening to the regular show (nice hair Sam). Where do you guys shoot at? Thanks for curing my fever, keep up the great work.

Interesting. But as much as I hate to critisize, I'm a bit iffy on whether there's a point to having a video version avaiable. I listen to your podcast right when I go to bed because that's the only time I'm not busy and it really does help me chill and eventually sleep (no offence). My sister listens to this while she's on her way to work in her car (listening to you guys insightfully discuss movies has saved many potential dashboard dents during the heavy traffic).

My point is that most people listen to their podcasts while doing something else that's less interesting, but necessary (sleeping, working, eating, driving, jogging, etc). But we're obviously not going to be watching anything while doing any of these things (save for eating...) so if I had to do a poll vote, I'd go for "a bit pointless".

Sorry guys, but somebody had to be honest. Although I must say that it was wonderful to finally see the masters behind the curtains - even if the masters are surrounded by wires and equipment in an odd looking room.

I don't necessarily disagree. It IS probably a "bit pointless." Most people do listen while doing those things you mentioned -- but many others listen while on a train to work or the subway, for example... which does provide an opportunity to watch.

One excellent feature that the "Hedwig" DVD has that I not found on any other DVD is the option to play (and view) only the music segments of the movie.

This should be a standard feature on all DVDs that have music only segments.
