Huh? I thought you were reviewing A Fistful of Daughters on this episode? :P
Yes, I'm an idiot.
Hmm. That's funny. I actually had Garden State on my list aswell. It was #2.
5. Stand By Me
4. The Lion King
3. The Graduate
2. Garden State
1. Dumb and Dumber
Dumb and Dumer wins it because it is just filled with songs and unilke Garden State, I love each one. There are a couple on the Garden State soundtrack that I can't stand.
Anyway. Nice show guys.
my biggest issue with your lists, 1-5 and 6-20 is that you left off of your list, the movie where such TOP 5 lists prevades (and is sooo about the music, as was the book), HIGH FIDELITY!
"Like a great mix tape, the soundtrack to High Fidelity feels like it was assembled by a true music fanatic. Interspersing selections from cult favorites both old (Love, the 13th Floor Elevators) and new (Smog, Stereolab), it provides a window into the mind of the film's main character.... (via amazon.com)"
anyway, keep up the good work, love the show, blahblahblah
Man, I meant to post this earlier...
OK. So you guys are great. Hopefully you know I think so, but if not, you are.
HOWEVER, I cannot let pass Sam's egregious assertion that John "Sissypants" Wayne, even at the height of his powers, could possibly take someone as badass as Clint "TMWNN" Eastwood in a mano a mano showdown. Are you serious, Sam? But what if Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson were to show up and sing a song? Mightn't that lessen the Duke's odds?
Love the show as always,
Zack McGhee
You guys seem to be giving Leone a lot of credit for creating the modern action hero, despite the fact that the movie you're citing is a remake. Leone and Eastwood didn't do anything in this film that Kurosawa and Mifune hadn't done better already.
Like 'upthepupils' mentioned, I too can't believe how you guys left out High Fedility. I just recently finished reading the book and have got to say that it's the most musically-insprised book I've ever read. The movie too, captures the spirit brilliantly and has all the wonderful songs that should've made it - when I didn't hear it being mentioned in the 6-through-10 - into the Top 5. Another movie-soundtrack that I can't believe missed the take was Almost Famous', which had an amazing soundtrack that included the only two Elton John songs worth listening to, Tangerine by Led Zeppelin, and some other very good music that is essential to the movie.
Oh well, at least Adam nailed Garden State, Pulp Fiction, Magnolia, and The Graduate, as all of them feature my favorite movie soundtracks. And all I have to say to Sam is... Batman? What the...
Hey guys how about your personal top 5 original scores?
lou, we discuss this briefly in Cinecast #49 -- we definitely plan to do original scores at some point.
John Wayne could only take Eastwood if there were no guns involved. If it were a gunfight, Wayne and as many deputies as he brought with him would be dead before getting a shot off.
Adam, you turn off the radio when ever a Led Zeppelin song comes on the radio!
You sicken me.
Sorry man, I can only hear Rock 'n Roll so many times.
Am I the only one who can't seem to download this show throgh iTunes? It just won't show up. The only thing that showed up was another show number 48 wich I already have..
Are you subscribed to the Cinecast that says "New movie reviews and insightful film talk" or "A twice-weekly film podcast..." ?
I actually had the same problem. When I cleared my subscription and re-subscribed, it came through fine. Not sure what happened.
I have the *A twice weekly..* I tried unsubscribing but still I only got number 48 again
FYI, I've had zero problem receiving the video and audio podcasts.
Emelie, I can't explain it... #50 is showing up fine everywhere but iTunes if you're subscribed to the 'A twice-weekly...", which is what you 'should' be signed up to... Right click and clear and your subscription to Cinecast. Then do a search for Cinecast in the music store and re-subscribe. Subscribe to the one with the correct, update logo which says "A twice-weekly..." #50 should come through, but you'll have to delete the ones you don't want again. I wish I could explain what happened.
It didn't show up if I just resubscriped I had to press the 'get episode' button.. but now it's working anyway.. so thanks for your help adam.
I had the same problem as Emelie, for what it's worth. iTunes wouldn't "see" the new show when I asked it to check, yet if I looked up the same Cinecast in the iTunes Music Store directory that I was subscribed to, there it was. So I just went there and manually pressed "get episode."
Is it just me, or is Apple either extremely lethargic or maybe simply stretched too far on a short staff with their podcasts? Wasn't the other Cinecast entry supposed to be deleted from their listings forever ago?
iTunes is often a day or two late (at least in my experience) so don't worry if some of you don't recieve or detect it immedietly.
